Bunking around and seeking for unusual hangout?

Munching on the great king of all fruits:

  Durian At Geylang

What is the most common thing most Singaporeans do in the dead of the night? WE EAT!
Durians are well known at Geylang and they are the best! The taste of durians ranges from sweet, bitter to bittersweet durians! Some durians there are directly imported from Indonesia, Thailand and even Malaysia. They ensure the best quality of the durians especially for durian lovers to eat and enjoy every bite of the flesh of the durian.

Geylang is definitely a place where you can find D24 durians and enjoy the king of fruits! Although the stores may look run down, old and dirty, but the durians there are guranteed to be clean, nice and there would certainly be 100% satisfaction after eating there. I am sure you would not want to forgo this experience at Geylang!

D24 sultan durians only costs about $10 per kilogram. The most famous durian type is the Mau San Wang (Cat's mountain king). It is extremely popular amongst Singaporeans and this is certainly a MUST TRY. Furthermore, the price of these durians is totally affordable and worth it because of the thick and tender flesh of the Durian that melts almost instantly as soon as you put it in your mouth!

Geylang is often seen as a Red light District and many tend to avoid going there. Most foreigners find the taste of durians repulsive. It is possible that the durians that they ate are the ones that are of poor quality. Only good quality durians taste good, and choosing a good quality durian is a skill which even the locals have difficulty picking up!

Last but not least, there is something really interesting in Geylang. It is called durian chee cheong fan. Chee cheong fan is a chinese dish usually eaten with prawns or eaten plain with sauce. With durian puree stuffed in rice flour skin and coated with a layer of peanuts, it is indeed a very rich, tasty and unusual dessert! It is also cheap as it only cost about $4! These durian lovers sure know how to be creative when it comes to durian!

Catch me if you can Prawn!

Just can’t get enough of the delicious chilli prawns at your friend’s Barbeque?  How about spice up your night in Singapore and interact with the locals through “Prawning “. Yes, i meant Prawns just like fishing for fish this time it’s “Prawns” instead.

Prawning is the “IT” hobby in Singapore, tourist are able to experience the unique “Fishing”.  Where you would be situated at a pond filled with various prawns and these are not the ordinary ones that you eat at the local Singapore hawker centre. From big head prawns to tiger prawns. It surely keeps you craving for more. And if you’re lucky enough you could catch flower crabs or lobsters in your reels.

Fret not as Singapore is equipped with various ponds island wide for prawn lovers to catch a bundle of them.  The popular few i would suggest is at East Coast Park. Why? Simple!

  • It’s located near the central part of Singapore and easily accessible
  • It contains two different kind of ponds that tourist can enjoy
  • Fresh Water or Sea Water ponds
It also compromised of these few bundle of benefits:
  • Ample free parking (Carpark C3 and C4)
  • Opens 24 hours daily
  • Free prawn fishing lessons
  • All prawn fishing gears and baits provided
  • 5 BBQ pits, charcoal, firestarters and skewer at no additional costs
  • Guest can make do with the BBQ pit provided at the area
  • The house rules: No PORK or LARD in the BBQ Pit. No littering.

On a side note you are able to eat and chill with your peers while BBQ-ing as the BBQ duration does not include your Prawning duration, meaning you can BBQ while Prawning, or even after you finish your Prawning session. Difference between the Seawater pond and the Freshwater pond is that you can get other variety of seafood like lobsters, flower crabs and the most famous TIGER PRAWNS.  With the attractive and worthy rates why not bring your peers and hang around in one of the few Singapore beaches instead of the usual Sentosa beach?
